Queer Anthropology: Power, Abjection, and Ethics
Anthropologists dedicated to the understanding of themes, life forms, and phenomena considered marginal, unethical and/or abject. Our research group explores the power effects of dominant structures, orders, and hierarchies in order to reveal alternatives, reversals, and structural instabilities that operate on a daily basis, but tend to remain invisible to ethnographic studies. Potential topics include: pornography, drugs, machismo, transsexuality, racism, suicide, prostitution and others.
